Recommendations on Repair & Conservation

Following condition survey and appraisal, recommendations on repair and conservation techniques and materials are made, often supported by practical development of the proposed methods on site. In this way the specification and detailed proposals can be tested before a contract is let.

Cleaning and Surface Treatments

Careful cleaning of stone, brick, and terracotta masonry is important to their appearance and their condition. Investigation of masonry and soiling types and altered and vulnerable surfaces is undertaken before recommendations are made on cleaning activities. Surface treatments are occasionally recommended but only where positive benefits can be assured without risk. We investigate and analyse past surface treatments, including paint layers.
